Hi, I’m Ed and I run Edswords poetry.
If you’re looking for something a little different to mark a special or important occasion, either personally or for business, then one of my bespoke poems is the answer.
I enjoy writing poems of all kinds for all occasions, and as you can see, I am ready and waiting to put pen to paper for you.
Get in touch today - I've got a rhyme if you've got a reason. (I know, I know - but it does work though, doesn't it?)

What I offer
Poems for you, written for celebrations, anniversaries, birthdays or any other occasion you would like to mark with some words about someone important to you.
I can write to a theme, an idea, things that have a special meaning, in a style appropriate to your occasion. A well-crafted poem can provide a sense of connection, humour or sensitivity for you and your guests.

Poems for business, if you're running campaign, advertising, an event or promoting your work to customers.
Words that rhyme and have rhythm can help a message stick with your clients or customers in a way that a few standard sentences can’t.
I can help you think of an idea or tagline that says what you want and create a poem based on it.
Remember the name
If I can get it just right
Through this rhyme you'll see the light:
Words that sound the same
Will help you remember the name
Edswords - poems for any event
Rhymes that are heaven sent
Well, that might be a bit over the top
So I think maybe I'd better stop.
How the process works
Get in touch
Drop me a line using the details below - you can email, phone, message or use the contact form. Include some info on the kind of occasion or event, when it takes place and any ideas or themes you might like included. Here’s some pointers on info that will help me:
-
A bit about who/what you'd like the poem to be for and the occasion/event
-
Let me know the style you're looking for - something humorous, sensitive, serious, or all three
-
When you need your poem by
I aim to respond to enquiries with 24 hours so I will come back to you within that timeframe and start the process for creating your poem.
How long does it take?

I generally allow two weeks to work through what you’d like, create a first draft and then go through any revisions or amendments. I can work faster though so please do drop me a line even if you think it’s a bit short notice.
Once we’ve agreed a final product, I will provide it to you either in a formatted PDF file ready to be printed, or I can send you a printed version in the post.

How much does it cost?
A shorter poem, around 10-15 lines: £30
A longer poem, around 18-25 lines: £40
Fees payable on completion.
I don't like to restrict myself to very specific lengths (I might have a lot to say!) hence the range for pricing. If you give me an indication of whether you want something snappy and to the point or something more all-encompassing, then I will work towards that without quibbling too much over the odd line here or there.

Things I may or may not do when I'm 14
Start to stay in bed
Until around lunchtime
Tell mum and dad to give me a break
It’s hardly a crime
Develop my own taste
In music and clothes
No Mum, it’s not happening
I really can’t be seen out in those
Thank my parents very much
To keep their noses out
Of my diary and social life
When I want a lift I’ll shout
Have a number of good reasons
Why I should stay out late
It's got nothing to do with you
If I'm out on a date
Socialise the idea
With my mum and dad
That soon I'll be a grown up
And it'll be no passing fad

Mother-land
You were designed to withstand
A trip to mother-land
To have temperance in hand
For moods built on quicksand

To be un-thanked for thankless tasks
That you do, though no-one asks
To be the person who is just there
When they're caught in life's glare

To always put them first
And hold tight, even at their worst
To be the guiding force
If they start to stray off course

To nurture and watch them grow
But know you'll have to let it go
When they set sail for the adult world
They're own life to be unfurled

And as they depart without a backward look
You have but one thought: I hope they can cook
